No, this song’s title has nothing to do with shore birds; or smoking, for that matter. In point of fact, Roxanne and I were out on an extended mountain trip. At one point, I was jamming our food back down into my pack and she yelled out “Hey! Don’t crush my puffins!!”. Yup, I was confused. Turns out that she had packed Puffins breakfast cereal and, yes, I was quite probably crushing her puffins. I am not making this up.
